Hi there! I’m HoneyB on this blog, but my real name is Brandi.
I’m a twenty-something college student, living in sunny Florida. I run a small business, with some occasional help from my smart and wonderful husband. I keep myself pretty busy, but in my spare time I like to keep abreast of important issues, and find ways that I can have a positive impact on the world, even if sometimes they seem a little small.
Why did I choose a honey bee theme for this blog? A couple of very important reasons:
- Honey bees are an issue of importance in and of themselves. These little creatures have long been beneficial to the Earth and people for pollinating plants, many of which are extremely important for the world’s agriculture industries, and the honey that they produce. Unfortunately, in recent years honey bees have been declining, particularly in the Western world. The loss of these animals may have devastating effects on farmers, consumers, and many other species around us.
- Honey bees are very cooperative little animals, communicating and working with each other to reach a common goal. In this case, I’m hoping that enough of us can get together to share ways that we can all help make the world a better place as a society, even though we as individuals, may be small. It takes a lot of single drops of honey to fill a jar, but it wouldn’t be full without each and every one!
- Honey bees are pollinators. Just as they spread pollen and enable plants to flourish, I hope to spread the seeds of knowledge, so that the people who read this blog can begin to grow in ways that they may not have otherwise.
I hope that this mission speaks to you and that you find yourself checking back here regularly to find small ways you can help make our planet a better one. All I ask is that you consider passing some of the things you learn to the other bees in your life, in the interest of pollinating!
